EA Q2 bookings miss forecasts as gamer spending slows

Electronic Arts (EA) missed analyst forecasts for Q2 bookings, reporting US$1.8 billion, down 13% year-on-year and below the US$1.9 billion estimate from LSEG.

The game publisher cited uncertain gamer spending on its core sports franchises and tough comparisons to last year’s strong College Football 25 launch.

Net income dropped to US$137 million from US$294 million a year earlier.

This marks EA’s first quarterly report since announcing a US$55 billion acquisition by a private investor group that includes Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund.

EA said bookings for its soccer game FC 26 rose by mid-single digits, while its newly launched Battlefield 6 sold over seven million copies in three days and will receive regular content updates to retain players.
