Dyson lays off staff in Singapore
Dyson conducted layoffs in Singapore on Tuesday, three months after the company claimed its global headquarters in Singapore was “not directly impacted” by a restructuring that resulted in about 1,000 job cuts in Britain.
The layoffs were carried out quietly, with affected employees receiving emails for “one-on-one” meetings.
One laid-off employee recounted the meeting, noting, “The HR representative was present, and the reason given was job redundancy. We were instructed to pack our belongings.”
Many employees observed envelopes in the office, indicating more layoffs than initially reported. The layoffs predominantly impacted employees in manufacturing and procurement, yet the total number affected is still unknown.
In response to inquiries about the layoffs, a Dyson spokesperson stated that the company regularly adjusts its workforce to align skills with requirements. They confirmed that Dyson’s objectives in Singapore continue unabated, but did not provide details about the layoff numbers or support for those affected.
At the end of 2023, Dyson employed over 1,920 individuals in Singapore.
