Dutch medtech firm ViCentra bags $84.9m series D

ViCentra, a medical device company based in Utrecht, Netherlands, has raised €72.4 million (US$84.9 million) in series D funding to scale up production and launch its Kaleido 2 insulin patch pump in Europe.

The company is also preparing for entry into the US market.

The round was led by Innovation Industries, with participation from Partners in Equity, Invest-NL, EQT Life Sciences, and Health Innovations.

Founded in 2013, ViCentra develops the Kaleido insulin patch pump, an alternative to traditional insulin pumps for people with diabetes.

The pump has seen strong uptake in Germany, France, and the Netherlands. It is integrated with Diabeloop’s automated insulin delivery algorithm and compatible with Dexcom’s continuous glucose monitoring sensor.
