Dutch firm Novenda Technologies bags $5.6m for dental 3D printing

Novenda Technologies, based in Geleen, has secured €5.2 million (US$5.62 million) in a series A funding round aimed at enhancing its multi-material 3D printing technology for dental products.

The funding round was led by Brightlands Venture Partners, with contributions from KBC Focus Fund, Borski Fund, Limburg Business Development Fund/LIOF, and various angel investors.

The company also received an Innovation Credit from RVO.

The funding will also support the company’s efforts to expand its platform to additional dental applications.

Founded in 2019 by Klaas Wiertzema, Petra Doelman and Joost Anne Veerman, Novenda Technologies specializes in 3D printing tailored for the dental industry.

Novenda’s focus is to deploy its technology in dental labs across Europe and the United States.

The company also aims to explore new markets for individualized mass manufacturing and expand its platform to additional dental applications.

🧠 Food for thought

1️⃣ Dental 3D printing market presents massive growth opportunity with low current adoption

Novenda’s timing for Series A funding aligns with a rapidly expanding market opportunity in dental 3D printing technology.

Despite the dental 3D printing market being projected to grow from $3.96 billion in 2025 to $10.06 billion by 2030 at a compound annual growth rate of 20.5%, current adoption remains relatively low 1.

In the U.S. market specifically, only about 17% of dentists had adopted 3D printing technology as of 2023, indicating substantial room for market penetration 2.

This growth trajectory reflects the industry’s ongoing digital transformation, with practices increasingly seeking solutions that can improve efficiency and accuracy while addressing labor challenges.

Novenda’s multi-material technology enters the market as dental labs and practices are actively seeking digital workflow solutions, positioning the company to potentially capture significant market share during this adoption phase.
