Dutch chip tech firm Nearfield raises $380m series D
Nearfield Instruments, a Rotterdam-based semiconductor metrology and process control company, said on June 22 it raised $380 million in a series D round led by Fidelity Management & Research Company. The funding values the company at $1.6 billion.
Temasek, Walden Catalyst Ventures, Innovation Industries, M&G, Invest-NL, and new investor Qatar Investment Authority also participated. Existing investors TNO Ventures and ING contributed as well.
Nearfield’s QUADRA platform measures tiny 3D wafer features in line during high-volume chip production. The company said its systems have been rolled out to semiconductor manufacturers.
Nearfield said the funding will support its roadmap, set up application centers, expand production capacity, strengthen customer support. The company will also invest in research and development for next-generation chipmaking technologies.
High-NA EUV also tightens metrology requirements. Nearfield recently said it would ship a QUADRA system to imec for High-NA EUV resist 3D metrology, CFET profiling, and hybrid bonding work.
