Dubai Taxi Company (DTC) plans to launch its first driverless taxi service in Dubai by early 2026, according to CEO Mansoor Alfalasi.

This initiative, in collaboration with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), aims to address regulatory, safety, and operational needs.

Testing will begin in early 2026, with RTA selecting initial deployment areas. DTC is also exploring partnerships with vehicle manufacturers to ensure safety and profitability.

Dubai has been advancing autonomous mobility, starting with supervised testing in 2023. The emirate also plans to introduce electric air taxis alongside driverless taxis.

Meanwhile, Abu Dhabi already has operational driverless taxis, with Uber and WeRide launching a commercial service on Yas Island last December, managed by TXAI.

DTC expanded its fleet by 744 vehicles last year, reaching 5,960, and plans further expansion in 2025.
