Dubai telecoms operator to launch cloud, AI services

Dubai-based telecom operator du will launch its sovereign cloud and AI services in the UAE starting July 2025, according to Jasim Al Awadi, chief ICT officer at du.

In June 2024, du revealed plans to use Oracle Alloy to deliver hyperscale cloud and sovereign AI services, focusing on government and public sector clients in Dubai and the Northern Emirates.

The company will enter a competitive market featuring technology giants like Microsoft, Amazon, and Google, but aims to offer value-driven services tailored to the UAE market.

This move comes as demand for sovereign cloud services grows globally, driven by regulatory requirements for data sovereignty and privacy.

Gartner projects the market, valued at US$37 billion in 2023, will grow to US$169 billion by 2028 at 36% annual growth rate.
