Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Joby Aviation have successfully conducted the region’s first test flight of the Joby Aerial Taxi.

The test, held in Dubai, marks progress toward launching commercial aerial taxi services by 2026 near Dubai International Airport.

The Joby Aerial Taxi is an electric vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) vehicle designed for urban use.

It has the capacity to carry four passengers and a pilot, with a flight range of up to 160 kilometers and a maximum speed of 320 kilometers per hour.

Additionally, it produces lower noise levels than traditional helicopters.

The trial site includes a vertiport, hangar, and charging systems, developed with Shamal Holding.

This test builds on earlier agreements and Joby’s US flight trials, including tests in extreme heat.
