Dubai fintech firm TransFi expands cross-border payments in SEA
Dubai-based stablecoin payments infrastructure company TransFi has launched BizPay, a cross-border payments platform for SMEs in Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
The platform is offering collections and payouts through a single chat-style interface.
The launch comes as Southeast Asian governments and central banks expand cross-border payment links.
Indonesia joining BIS Project Nexus in February, Vietnam issuing an SME digital transformation plan in March.
The Philippines central bank moving toward a July milestone on ASEAN remittance interoperability.
TransFi said it has raised US$19.2 million, processed more than US$1 billion in transaction volume, and holds regulatory registrations in Singapore, Lithuania, and Canada.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
BizPay blends stablecoin settlement with AI routing
- TransFi runs on stablecoin rails, but businesses do not need to hold volatile crypto assets. It uses a “stablecoin sandwich” approach 1.
- BizPay adds AI-based routing that picks the fastest, lowest-cost path for each transaction across stablecoin and fiat rails 2.
- The setup targets local payment gaps. One example is helping Vietnamese freelancers receive US dollar payments through local payment methods 3.
Cross-border payments are turning into a fight over rails
- TransFi’s focus on infrastructure marks a more mature phase for crypto finance. The aim is to work as an unseen settlement layer instead of a consumer asset 4.
- This approach goes up against banks that use SWIFT, the global bank messaging network for international payments, plus fintechs such as Wise and Airwallex that bundle fiat payment systems 5.
- The next contest in global payments centers on the rails, with stablecoin settlement facing optimized fiat networks on speed and cost across hard cross-border routes 5.
- For small and medium-sized businesses in markets such as the Philippines, that can mean cheaper, simpler ways to pay overseas suppliers or collect client payments 6.
