Dubai fintech firm Optasia targets $375m in South Africa IPO

Optasia, a Dubai-based fintech firm, plans to list on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and aims to raise up to US$375 million through a mix of new and existing shares.

The company, which offers AI-powered micro-financing and mobile airtime credit in 38 countries, said it will seek about 1.3 billion rand (US$70 million) in an IPO and at least 5 billion rand (US$270 million) from a private placement for current shareholders.

Optasia said it works mainly in Africa, the Middle East, and Asia, and partners with telecom operators such as MTN, Vodacom, and Airtel.

The company reported around 121 million monthly active users and over 32 million daily loan transactions.
