Dropbox launches data access governance tool in Singapore
Dropbox has launched Dropbox Protect in Singapore, making the city-state the second market after Japan to get the data access governance tool.
Dropbox Protect gives information technology and security teams a view of who can access content across Dropbox, Google Drive, and Microsoft 365.
The tool lets teams review public links, external collaborators, and risky permissions, automate policies, alerts, and access fixes, and generate reports and audit logs for governance and compliance.
The Singapore launch comes as the country’s Personal Data Protection Act requires organizations to make reasonable security arrangements against unauthorized access to, or disclosure of, personal data held electronically.
Dropbox Protect competes with data access governance vendors.
Examples include tools covering Google Drive and SharePoint, while Microsoft also offers governance actions in Defender for Cloud Apps.
