Dreamer founders join Meta to work on AI agents

Meta has hired the founders and team of AI startup Dreamer to work on AI agents at Meta Superintelligence Labs under chief AI officer Alexandr Wang.

The arrangement includes a non-exclusive license for Meta to use Dreamer’s technology, and Dreamer backers will be repaid more than their investment, while the company remains a separate legal entity.

Dreamer, a startup launched this year to help users build AI agents, was co-founded by former Stripe CTO and ex-Google Android engineering VP David Singleton, former Google Android product VP and ex-Meta VR lead Hugo Barra, and former Google Chrome OS designer Nicholas Jitkoff, who are all joining Meta.

Meta has been expanding in AI agents, including a more than US$2 billion deal for Manus in December and an agreement to buy agent-focused social network Moltbook this month.
