DOGE’s AI tool reportedly suggests cutting half of US regulations

Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is using an AI tool to assess federal regulations and identify those that may be eliminated.

The tool, known as the DOGE AI Deregulation Decision Tool, has indicated that 100,000 out of over 200,000 regulations “can be deleted.”

A PowerPoint presentation shows that federal agencies have a deadline of September 1, 2025 to develop their own lists for deregulation using the AI tool.

The document said that this process can be completed within four weeks.

After this period, DOGE aims to create a final list targeting the removal of 50% of federal regulations.

The tool is designed to identify regulations that are no longer legally required.

While the AI generates recommendations, human staff members are responsible for reviewing these suggestions before any final decisions are made.
