DJI challenges Pentagon for military label
DJI has filed a lawsuit against the US Department of Defense, challenging its classification as a Chinese military company.
For over 16 months, the drone manufacturer attempted to communicate with the Pentagon but reported no fruitful engagement.
The company’s spokesperson stated that they saw legal action as the only remaining option.
DJI seeks redress through a federal court.
The Department of Defense’s list, part of the National Defense Authorization Act, targets Chinese firms thought to be supporting Beijing’s technological advancements.
The list identifies companies in the US and abroad that are believed to be militarily influenced.
Since 2022, DJI has been on this list, with its status confirmed in the latest update in January.
This inclusion restricts US companies from engaging in business with DJI and similar firms.
