Digital Realty gets provisional 50MW in Singapore
Digital Realty, a US-based data center operator, said on August 25 that it had won a provisional 50MW allocation under Singapore’s second Data Center Call for Application, or DC-CFA2, to develop a new facility at JTC’s low-carbon data center park on Jurong Island.
The allocation would expand Digital Realty’s Singapore footprint to four data centers from three, adding to its existing capacity of about 84MW.
The new facility is intended to support AI inference, high-performance computing, and enterprise digital workloads.
Singapore launched its second call to allocate 200MW of new capacity through a competitive process, and authorities selected four proposals.
Authorities assessed applications on sustainability and efficiency metrics, including power usage effectiveness targets and the ability to use low-carbon energy.
The site is within what JTC described as Singapore’s largest green data center park.
Digital Realty said more than half of the new facility’s capacity would use green power sources.
These can include imports of low-carbon electricity under Singapore’s green power rules.
