DHL Supply Chain, DHL Group’s contract logistics arm, said on June 9 it is expanding its Asia-Pacific data center logistics network to more than 160,000 square meters.

The total includes 30,000 square meters already in operation and another 130,000 square meters of committed built-to-suit facilities in Malaysia and Thailand that are expected to go live over the next two years as AI investment grows.

The company is training staff in careful handling, rack frame assembly, component mounting, intra-rack cabling, functional testing, and secure packaging.

It plans to shift preparation work for data center equipment from construction sites to logistics hubs.

DHL cited projections that Asia Pacific could attract about US$800 billion in data center investment by 2030. The data center logistics market could grow from US$23 billion in 2025 to about US$35 billion by 2030.

Asia Pacific data center capacity is expected to reach 57 gigawatts by 2030 from 32 gigawatts, according to real estate services firm JLL.

Malaysia has emerged as an ASEAN data center hub, with a 22% CAGR forecast for 2023 to 2029. Thailand is also seeing rapid buildout, with officials approving at least 38 data center projects worth 458 billion baht (US$14 billion).
