Denmark-based Food-waste startup said to seek unicorn funding

Too Good To Go, a Copenhagen-based startup, is seeking to raise between €200 million (US$231 million) and €300 million (US$345.7 million) in a new funding round, according to sources.

The raise could push the company’s valuation above US$1 billion, granting it unicorn status.

It is reportedly working with advisers and engaging potential investors, though discussions are still in early stages.

The app allows users to buy near-expired food at discounted prices and operates in 19 countries across Europe and North America.

It has around 100 million registered users and partners with brands like Starbucks and Marks & Spencer, offering “surprise bags” priced between US$5 and US$10.

Last year, it also launched a platform to help grocery retailers sell near-expired products.

In 2021, Too Good To Go raised US$31.1 million in a round led by Paris-based VC firm Blisce.
