Democrats urge Trump to oust Musk
A group of 77 House Democrats is urging President Trump to remove Elon Musk from his government role by May 30.
They cite legal limits on the tenure of special government employees.
The lawmakers argue that Musk, as head of the Digital Operations Group for Education (DOGE), cannot serve beyond 130 days under federal law.
In a letter to the president, they requested Musk to resign and give up all decision-making authority by the deadline.
The letter also states that Musk would be barred from returning to a similar role within a year unless he divests from his companies, such as Tesla and SpaceX.
