Dell in talks to acquire Israeli AI startup Dataloop
Dell Technologies is in talks to acquire Dataloop, an Israeli startup specializing in data infrastructure for AI, according to Calcalist.
Dataloop, founded in 2017 and based in Herzliya, provides a platform for managing and labeling unstructured data used in training AI models.
If completed, the deal would support Dell’s ongoing expansion into enterprise AI infrastructure and data services.
No official statements have been made by either company, and details such as transaction size and timeline remain undisclosed.
Dataloop has raised around US$50 million from investors including NGP Capital, Alpha Wave Global, F2 Venture Capital, OurCrowd, and Amiti Ventures.
The company reportedly works with clients in sectors including media, automotive, and agriculture, and employed over 80 people as of last year.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
Dataloop’s $3.5M revenue fits a tuck-in deal
- Dataloop made $3.5M in 2024 with 79 employees 1, which keeps it small next to Scale AI with over $600M raised and Labelbox with over $110M 2, both sell data labeling software.
- With only 2 quota-carrying sales reps 1, scale looks modest, so Dell likely wants the tech and talent more than a customer list or a channel.
- With no disclosed marquee customers or clear differentiation, this looks like a technology and team pickup. It would plug gaps in Dell’s AI Factory data preparation features 34.
What independent software vendors (ISVs) and system integrators can do if the deal closes
- Dell AI Factory unifies data, services, and infrastructure for end-to-end AI workflows 3. Adding Dataloop’s data annotation (labeling) platform 1 would open integration work for ISVs on Dell infrastructure.
- System integrators are consultancies that build systems while stitching hardware with software. They can move data labeling workloads onto Dell validated solutions with NVIDIA 4. Focus on regulated industries that require on-premises deployment (run in a company’s own data center).
- The partner roster now spans Intel and AMD, plus Google Gemini (Google’s large language model family) 5. It also features Red Hat OpenShift (a Kubernetes-based enterprise container platform) and Mistral, a European AI model company 5. That gives third-party data or AI developers entry points for complementary data services. They can co-sell (jointly sell with Dell) with Dell’s professional services organization 46.
