DeepSeek valued at $51.9b after funding
DeepSeek, a Chinese AI startup, was valued at about 351 billion yuan (US$51.9 billion) after its latest funding round, according to a July 16 investment progress announcement by Korrun, a China-listed company.
A person close to DeepSeek said the company had completed that financing round and had started a second one.
The person added that it was still unclear whether DeepSeek would seek a listing on Shanghai’s STAR Market by the end of this year.
DeepSeek’s June 2026 fundraise was its first external financing and brought in more than 50 billion yuan (US$7.39 billion).
Before that, founder Liang Wenfeng had funded the company through profits from hedge fund High-Flyer.
A STAR listing would be possible even without profits.
Shanghai said eligible large language model developers could list with an anticipated market value of at least 4 billion yuan (US$591 million) if they met commercialization and research and development criteria.
The exchange later said it had removed the rigid profitability requirement for the sci-tech growth tier.
