DeepSeek, Huawei develop programming tools for Ascend chips

DeepSeek, a Chinese AI company, said on September 30 that it partnered with Huawei Technologies to develop programming tools optimized for Huawei’s Ascend chips and related open-source software.

The partnership comes as Chinese firms seek alternatives to Nvidia’s AI ecosystem.

In a WeChat post, DeepSeek said the release includes compute and communication libraries for the Ascend platform. It also said the two companies jointly advanced a supernode system based on 128 Ascend 950 chips.

The announcement came two weeks after Huawei introduced next-generation AI processors and supernode computing systems. Huawei also said it expected its AI systems to be widely used for AI model training next year.

DeepSeek also said TileLang, an open-source high-level programming language for AI chips, helped improve development efficiency and simplify code logic.
