DeepSeek gains traction among US businesses, report shows
DeepSeek, a Chinese AI firm, topped Ramp’s trending software vendors list in June, according to a report published on Wednesday by Ramp, a New York-based corporate spending platform.
Ramp said its AI Index measures paid AI adoption across more than 50,000 US businesses using corporate card and bill payment data.
It counts companies with any positive monthly transaction for an AI product or service and tracks when a business buys from a software vendor for the first time.
According to the report, DeepSeek’s corporate adoption reached 0.3% in January 2025 before falling to 0.1%, where it remained in April.
Anthropic and OpenAI led the index at 34.4% and 32.3%, respectively. Ramp did not provide June market share figures.
Ramp economist Ara Kharazian said direct payments to DeepSeek suggested some US firms were using DeepSeek’s hosted service rather than self-hosting its open-source models.
DeepSeek’s privacy policy said it stores and processes personal data in China.
