🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
Databricks valuation climbs amid AI infrastructure push, public benchmarks stay scarce
- Databricks is in talks to raise at above $130 billion, about 30% higher than its recent $100 billion Series K, though The Information says no term sheet is signed 1.
- By July 2025 the company reached $3.7 billion annualized revenue with 50% year over year growth 1, while Snowflake grew 26% on $3.84 billion revenue and trades at $66.5 billion 1.
- The company has not shared updated revenue, margins, or net retention rates 1. Net retention rates are the share of revenue kept and expanded from existing customers over a year. That gap makes it hard to judge a $130 billion price against public comps, comparable publicly traded companies, and the common 120%+ net retention bar needs fresh confirmation for Databricks 1.
System integrators and ISVs can win share through Databricks Marketplace listings
- A round at this level could fuel partner network growth through Databricks Marketplace 2. It uses Delta Sharing, an open protocol for secure cross-platform data sharing, to distribute data products without vendor lock-in 2.
- The Built on Databricks Partner Program offers technical resources, go-to-market help, and access to Databricks experts for SaaS app developers 3. That creates openings for independent software vendors and system integrators. These consultancies implement and integrate multi-vendor software.
- Partners can list datasets and machine learning models on the marketplace 2. They can also add notebooks and applications to reach customers like Block, Shell, and Rivian.
