Databricks eyes funding at up to $175b valuation: sources

Databricks has discussed raising funds in a round that could begin next month and value the company at between US$165 billion and US$175 billion, according to sources.

The company said that it had a US$5.4 billion revenue run rate, up more than 65% year on year, and more than 20,000 customer organizations.

Earlier this year, Databricks completed about US$5 billion in equity financing at a US$134 billion valuation, alongside about US$2 billion in new debt capacity.

Equity investors included Goldman Sachs, Glade Brook Capital, Morgan Stanley, Neuberger Berman, and the Qatar Investment Authority.

CEO Ali Ghodsi had also privately told investors that Databricks still planned to pursue an initial public offering, potentially as soon as next year.

The talks reflect continued investor appetite for AI-related companies.
