Dat Bike nets $4m as Hanoi moves to curb gasoline motorbikes
Vietnamese electric motorbike maker Dat Bike said it has secured US$4 million from Thien Viet Securities Joint Stock Company (TVS).
The company said the capital will fund expanding production, strengthening its supply chain, scaling distribution, and accelerating R&D.
Dat Bike said it is opening one new store every week across Vietnam and expects the pace to accelerate with the new capital and strong partners.
This comes as Hanoi will begin restricting gasoline motorbikes in central districts from July 2026, creating a clear push toward electric mobility.
Dat Bike did not disclose valuation or other deal terms.

Implications, context, and why it matters.
Dat Bike adds $4 million to a varied funding stack
- The new US$4 million investment comes after a US$22 million Series B round led by F.C.C, lifting Dat Bike’s total funding to US$47 million 1.
- Dat Bike also took a US$4 million convertible loan from the Private Infrastructure Development Group (PIDG) through InfraCo, which backs climate and development impact 2.
- Together, venture capital, development finance, and strategic capital from Thien Viet Securities Joint Stock Company (TVS), a Vietnamese securities firm, support expansion plans. Dat Bike aims to raise output from 500 to 1,000 units per month and scale its offline network from five stores to more than 20 stores 2.
Hanoi rules set up a policy-led market for electric motorbikes
- The restrictions are phased and tied to time or location, starting in 2026 across nine central wards inside Ring Road No. 1, then widening by 2030 3.
- Vietcetera writes that Hanoi’s Low Emission Zone resolution would bar commercial gasoline-powered motorbikes, including ride-hailing motorbikes, from entering Low-Emission Zones at any time 4.
- The shift strains riders and drivers. Over 53% of ride-hailing drivers said they can afford no more than US$80 per month in instalments for an electric motorbike, and around 56% do not have home charging access 5.
- Dat Bike’s results will hinge on financing partners and progress on charging infrastructure plans 6.
