Danantara to deploy $14b this year

Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund Danantara expects to deploy up to US$14 billion this year, mainly from dividends of existing assets, according to its chief investment officer (CIO), Pandu Sjahrir.

The fund plans a second bond issuance within the next one to two months, with the size depending on investor demand.

Launched in February 2025 with an initial US$20 billion, Danantara aims to support Indonesia’s economic transformation by investing in renewable energy, digital infrastructure, healthcare, and food security over the next 12 to 24 months.

About half of its investments are targeted at public markets, primarily in Indonesia, with potential opportunities in China, India, Japan, South Korea, and Europe.

The fund has a BBB credit rating from Fitch, aligned with Indonesia’s sovereign rating, and has formed partnerships totaling about US$45 billion with other sovereign wealth funds, including one with Qatar.
