Paradigm, a San Francisco-based venture firm known for crypto investments, has raised US$1.2 billion for a new fund focused on AI and robotics.

Paradigm has already invested from the fund in Zipline, a US-based autonomous drone delivery company, and True Anomaly, a US-based space defense startup that sells Mosaic space-operations software and Jackal autonomous orbital vehicles.

True Anomaly has also won a US$30 million US Space Force contract for the VICTUS HAZE mission.

The new fund expands Paradigm’s investment focus rather than marking a break from crypto.

The firm now describes itself as investing across crypto, AI, robotics, and other frontier technologies, and the new vehicle is its clearest push beyond digital assets.

Paradigm’s interest in AI predates the new fund.

In a June 2023 post on X, co-founder Matt Huang said the firm had “never been more dedicated to crypto” while also calling advances in AI too important to ignore.
