Crypto firm ProCap buys $385m in first bitcoin purchase
ProCap, led by Anthony Pompliano, has bought 3,724 BTC at an average price of US$103,785 per coin, totaling around US$385 million.
This marks Procap’s first major bitcoin investment and reflects its strategy to become a public bitcoin treasury firm.
ProCap has proposed a US$1 billion merger with Columbus Circle Capital Corp to go public as ProCap Financial Inc.
The firm has raised US$516.5 million in equity and US$235 million in convertible notes, the largest initial raise of any public bitcoin treasury.
ProCap plans to continue buying bitcoin and aims to hold US$1 billion worth of BTC on its balance sheet.
