Court sets first hearing in Nadiem Chromebook case on Dec 16

Indonesia’s Central Jakarta District Court will hold the first hearing for Nadiem Makarim and three others on December 16, 2025, in a corruption case involving the procurement of Chromebooks at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology between 2019 and 2022.

Makarim served as minister from 2019 to 2024.

The other defendants are Ibrahim Arief, Mulyatsyah, and Sri Wahyuningsih.

Prosecutors charged the defendants under Indonesia’s anti-corruption law and related statutes.

Authorities allege irregularities in the technical review and procurement process for Chromebooks and related software. State losses are estimated at over 2.1 trillion rupiah (US$126.2 million).
