US-based AI cloud computing company CoreWeave said on August 4 that it would enter Indonesia with three data centers, its first facilities in Asia Pacific.

The sites will add 360 megawatts of contracted power as demand grows for AI computing capacity closer to users and data.

CoreWeave said it will own and operate all three facilities and build a local team in Indonesia.

The expansion adds to its global footprint of 49 data centers as of March. In May, the company raised the lower end of its 2026 capital spending forecast and said it plans to spend US$31 billion to US$35 billion this year.

The move comes as Indonesia’s data center market has about 200 MW of live power capacity and a 270% increase in planned capacity, driven by cloud adoption, AI, and digital-economy demand.

Demand for local infrastructure is also shaped by rules requiring electronic system operators to register before serving Indonesian users, while some industries face stricter data-localization requirements.

Power availability is concentrated in core hubs, with Java-Bali accounting for 65.29% of installed grid capacity, while electricity reliability is weaker outside those areas.
