ComfortDelGro launches free driverless rides in Punggol
Singapore-listed transport operator ComfortDelGro launched free rides on its Zig Driverless shuttles in Punggol on June 22. The launch marks its second public autonomous service worldwide after its robotaxi pilot in Guangzhou, China.
Riders can book trips through the Zig app.
ComfortDelGro said the service uses trained safety operators.
ComfortDelGro said the Punggol launch builds on a two-year pilot launched with Pony.ai in Guangzhou on March 17, 2025. It has worked with regulators and insurers on the Singapore service.
The company aims to shift about 10% of its global point-to-point fleet to autonomous vehicles by 2030. This translate to about 3,400 vehicles based on its stated network of more than 34,000 vehicles. ComfortDelGro has said the driverless services are meant to complement its human drivers and help ease chronic driver shortages.
