ComfortDelGro, Alibaba-backed Hello partner on robotaxi services

ComfortDelGro has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Hello Robotaxi to collaborate on commercial robotaxi deployment in China and overseas markets.

ComfortDelGro, a Singapore-based transport operator, will combine its fleet management expertise with Hello Robotaxi’s autonomous driving technology.

The companies will explore intelligent hybrid dispatching systems that bring together traditional taxis and robotaxi services.

The partnership will also look at using existing infrastructure like EV charging stations and explore new areas such as car rental, battery swapping, maintenance, safety officer training, and grid management.

Hello Robotaxi, backed by Alibaba, Ant Group, and CATL, unveiled its first mass-produced robotaxi in September and will begin commercial operations in up to 10 cities, including its first overseas city.

The companies plan to scale the robotaxi fleet to over 10,000 vehicles by 2026.

The MOU was signed in Guangzhou at the 15th Singapore-Guangdong Collaboration Council meeting.

ComfortDelGro has previously trialed autonomous vehicle programs in Singapore and Guangzhou.
