Coinbase, StraitsX set to launch XSGD stablecoin

Coinbase has partnered with StraitsX to list the XSGD stablecoin on its platform, allowing users in Singapore and globally to access the Singapore dollar-pegged digital asset.

StraitsX, based in Singapore, issues stablecoins including XSGD and XUSD.

Coinbase said XSGD complies with the Monetary Authority of Singapore’s upcoming regulations for single-currency stablecoins.

The token will be available on Coinbase and Coinbase Advanced from September 29 at 19:00 UTC.

XSGD will also launch on Base, Coinbase’s Ethereum Layer 2 network, enabling on-chain foreign exchange transactions.

An XSGD/USDC liquidity pool will be introduced on Aerodrome, Base’s central liquidity hub, with incentives to support trading activity.

Both Coinbase and StraitsX hold Major Payment Institution licenses in Singapore.

The companies said the partnership aims to expand stablecoin use in local and cross-border payments.
