Cocoon Capital backs Singapore robot startup Doozy

Doozy Robotics, a Singapore-based startup that builds humanoid and mobile robots for factories, said on May 21 that it has raised seed funding from Cocoon Capital in an undisclosed amount.

It is expanding into the US, the Gulf, and Asia.

Founded by Suresh Chandrasekar and Ajmal Thahseen, the company offers its systems through a subscription model and plans to launch its Industrial Super Humanoid in the third quarter of 2026.

Doozy said it has paying customers across two continents, a US$144 million memorandum with an industrial conglomerate, a pilot with a US pharmaceutical company, and engagements with Daimler, Carrier, and VitaQuest.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

Why subscriptions fit robotic forklifts

  • Doozy’s subscription plan tackles the steep, uneven cost of autonomous forklifts, which run from US$45,000 to US$200,000 a unit 1.
  • Costs shift with payload, lift height, and battery choice. Scanner counts also affect price because some safety standards are not mandatory 1.
  • With economic uncertainty still around, many warehouse operators want to test automation first. That makes flexible Robots-as-a-Service (RaaS) plans more appealing than large upfront purchases 2.

Warehouse automation still has room to grow

  • Doozy faces competition, yet the field still has plenty of space. Fewer than 1% of forklifts now in use are autonomous 3.
  • The automated forklift market is expected to grow about 11% a year through 2033 2.
  • Labor shortages and higher shipping volumes are pushing operators to find efficiency. In large warehouses, one worker can remotely watch about 10 forklifts 2.
