Cisco buys Y Combinator-backed translation firm EzDubs

Cisco has acquired EzDubs, a Y Combinator-backed startup that offers real-time translation services, for an undisclosed sum.

Cisco plans to integrate EzDubs’ technology into its Cisco Collaboration platform, which includes products like Webex.

EzDubs will discontinue its consumer apps—previously supporting over 30 languages—by December 15, and the team is set to join Cisco Collaboration, though it is unclear if all members will make the transition.

EzDubs, founded in 2023, had raised US$4.2 million in seed funding from investors including Venture Highway and executives from Replit, Applied Intuition, and Replicate.

Recent months have seen several acquisitions in the translation sector, such as Palabra AI’s purchase of Talo and TransPerfect’s acquisition of Unbabel.

The translation services market is estimated to be worth around US$40 billion.
