Circle agrees $400m deal for payments startup Tazapay
Circle, the issuer of USDC, has agreed to acquire Tazapay, a Singapore-based cross-border payments firm for businesses, for US$400 million in stock, according to a regulatory filing.
Tazapay connects payment companies and financial institutions to more than 60 banking and fintech partners, enabling collections and payouts through local payment rails in more than 100 markets.
Circle said Tazapay processes more than US$25 billion in annualized payment volume, with about 60% of transactions involving stablecoins.
The deal is expected to close in 2027, subject to regulatory approvals, including from the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
Tazapay is listed in the regulator’s financial institutions directory under Singapore’s Payment Services Act. Acquirers seeking to become 20% controllers of a payment service provider need approval.
Circle said its payments business lets companies accept payments in digital currencies and settle in local currencies. It also said Tazapay has helped design Circle Payments Network since 2025.
