A United States technology industry group has requested the Biden administration to delay a proposed rule on AI chip exports, warning that the rule could threaten the country’s leadership in AI.

The Information Technology Industry Council (ITI), which includes major companies like Amazon, Microsoft, and Meta, expressed concerns about the effects of these restrictions.

The “Export Control Framework for Artificial Intelligence Diffusion” aims to impose controls to prevent the technology from enhancing China’s military capabilities.

The proposed rule may be announced as early as Friday.
