Chinese rocket firm LandSpace nears $1b IPO under eased rules

LandSpace, a Beijing-based private rocket company, has moved closer to a US$1 billion IPO in Shanghai after its listing application was accepted under a new fast-track process for pre-revenue aerospace firms.

The company’s application to list on the Star Market was accepted just eight days after completing its listing preparation.

The Shanghai Stock Exchange recently eased profitability requirements for commercial rocket firms, allowing those that have demonstrated progress in reusable medium to large launch vehicles to apply.

The company reported revenue of 36.4 million yuan (US$5.2 million) in H1 2025, but posted a net loss of 634.6 million yuan (US$90.7 million).

LandSpace said IPO proceeds would be used for reusable rocket technology and expanding production capacity.

At least 10 Chinese aerospace companies are preparing for IPOs as China increases support for its space sector.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

STAR Market sets a reusability bar for rocket IPOs

  • The Shanghai Stock Exchange’s STAR Market, the science-and-technology board, released review guidance under its fifth set of listing standards for commercial rocket companies. Media reports say medium-to-large reusable rockets are required, with progress toward reusability by filing.
  • LandSpace, a private rocket company in Beijing, had its application accepted eight days after it finished listing prep. This followed a failed Zhuque-3 first-stage booster recovery in December 2025.
  • This pathway fits pre-revenue companies. Investors will judge each plan and timeline to cash flows from reusable launch.

Rocket IPOs will steer supplier work into subsidized parks

  • At least 10 Chinese aerospace firms are preparing IPOs. The wave will drive spending on gear, materials, or testing.
  • Shanghai’s Minhang District (a district in Shanghai) will host a city-level commercial rocket characteristic industrial park. It offers capped subsidies for research and development (R&D) or platform construction. Support covers launches or insurance, with awards often in the tens of millions of yuan per item. Songjiang District will host a city-level commercial satellite and terminal characteristic industrial park. Suppliers of 3D printing equipment (additive manufacturing), high-temperature alloy materials, or five-axis machining systems (advanced computer-controlled machine tools that move a part or tool in five directions) can target clients with strongest policy support.
  • Aerospace simulation software vendors or testing firms can track parks with shared facility subsidies. Minhang offers up to 10 million yuan for eligible platform construction, and listed companies may rent these platforms to lower capital needs.
