Chinese robotics firm Unitree launches $5,500 customizable robot

Unitree, a robotics company based in China, has launched the Unitree R1. The robot is priced from CNY 39,900 (approximately US$5,500) and weighs about 25 kg.

The Unitree R1 is lightweight and customizable, allowing users to modify its functionalities. It includes voice and image recognition capabilities powered by multimodal large models to enhance human-robot interaction. The effectiveness of these features in practical applications remains to be seen.

Founded in 2017, Unitree develops intelligent robots, including both humanoid and quadrupedal designs. The company’s previous models have been utilized in education, research, and entertainment.
