Chinese robotics firm Unitree finishes pre-IPO preparations
Unitree Robotics, a humanoid robot maker based in Hangzhou, has completed pre-IPO tutoring with China’s Zhejiang Securities Regulatory Bureau, marking a major step toward an onshore listing.
The company transitioned to a joint-stock limited company in May 2025, a move required for public offerings in China.
Citic Securities guided Unitree through the regulatory process and confirmed the company has set up necessary corporate governance and accounting systems.
No fundraising target or listing date was disclosed in the regulatory filings.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
Investor focus shifts to Unitree’s humanoid upside
- Unitree cleared over renminbi (RMB) 1 billion in 2025 and stayed profitable for five years, with most sales from quadruped robots (four-legged robots) 1. Quadrupeds made about 70% of global shipments, with roughly 10,000 units in 2024 1.
- H1, H1-2, and G1 (bipedal humanoid models) have shipped over 400 units 1. Unitree says this ranks first globally. Revenue stays modest in education and research 1. UBTECH Robotics, a Shenzhen consumer and service robotics company, posted RMB 1.305 billion in 2024 but only RMB 35 million from humanoids after 10 units 1.
- The US$7 billion valuation target reported by Reuters signals a bet on humanoid commercial breakthroughs over quadruped profit 1. Execution risk rises if Unitree fails to scale production and uses beyond research labs within the 3–5 year technology window its founder emphasizes 1.
Suppliers and AI platforms can ride China’s eldercare robot pilots
- China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology with the Ministry of Civil Affairs will run intelligent eldercare service robot pilots from 2025 to 2027 2. The program creates demand for subsystems and enabling tech.
- Unitree makes 90% of core components in-house and prices its Go2 quadruped (Unitree’s entry-level four-legged robot) at RMB 9,997 1. Boston Dynamics’ Spot (a four-legged robot) costs about RMB 538,000 1. That gap invites cost-competitive actuators (the motor-and-gear assemblies that move joints), sensors, and control systems for the pilots.
- AI and cloud providers can tackle a bottleneck with better multimodal perception (combining inputs such as vision, audio, touch) 1. This lift improves recognition accuracy and movement. Tying products to 2025–2027 pilots lets providers test in live settings while building reference customers for wider uses 2.
