Chinese robot startup Lumos eyes funding, potential IPO
Lumos Robotics, a Shenzhen-based startup that develops industrial and humanoid robots, is considering another fundraising round and aims to begin preparing for a possible stock market listing next year, founder Yu Chao said in Beijing.
Yu said the company is prioritizing factory cost savings and industrial reliability over flashy humanoid demonstrations.
The new funding would mainly go toward industrial deployments, hardware development, AI models, and computing infrastructure.
Lumos said it has raised about 1 billion yuan (US$148 million) across seven funding rounds.
Its main commercial product is MOS 2, a wheeled, dual-arm robot used for factory inspection and material handling.
Yu said Lumos has deployed around 30 MOS robots, with about five more deployments due shortly, and is targeting around 300 deliveries this year.
The company also lists Mitsubishi Electric, a Japanese industrial group, as its largest outside shareholder.
