Research institutions in China connected to the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) have reportedly utilized Meta’s open-source Llama model to develop an AI tool for military purposes.

This tool is designed for gathering military intelligence and assisting in operational decisions.

It was built by six scientists from three institutions, including the Academy of Military Science.

The tool, named “ChatBIT,” is said to surpass some AI models in performance.

It is nearing OpenAI’s ChatGPT-4 capabilities, though specific performance details were not provided.
