Chinese quantum chip startup SpinQ raises $87.2m series C+
SpinQ Technology said it raised 600 million yuan (US$87.2 million) in a series C+ round to fund research on next-generation, high-qubit superconducting quantum chips and expand standardized production lines.
SpinQ is a Shenzhen-based quantum computing company that provides superconducting and nuclear magnetic resonance systems, with related software and cloud tools.
The company said Guotai Junan Innovation Investment backed the round alongside Cornerstone Capital, and Sichuan Zhenxing Group.
SpinQ said its total series C funding reached nearly 1 billion yuan (US$145 million) in three months, and Glacier Capital was its strategic financial advisor.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
A dual-product strategy underpins SpinQ’s near-billion-yuan series C funding
- SpinQ runs two product lines that bring in money now while supporting longer-term expansion 1.
- Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) desktop quantum computers generate steady cash flow. These devices use the same NMR technique found in medical MRI scanners, and they have shipped to more than 200 universities and research institutions worldwide 1.
- That income helps fund its superconducting business, which makes up 65% of total revenue. It also drives an 80% year-over-year jump in Q1 2026 order volume 2.
- SpinQ is building a full-stack operation from chip design through packaging and testing, plus whole-machine integration. The goal is tighter control over quantum hardware costs and complexity 1.
SpinQ’s funding aligns with China’s state-directed quantum commercialization push
- The round fits a national push where state-affiliated investors back selected companies after tech giants such as Alibaba and Baidu left quantum research 2.
- China’s 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030) ranks quantum technology first among seven “future industries.” A National Venture Guidance Fund will route funding through regional investment vehicles 2.
- U.S. export controls have sped up domestic sourcing for parts like dilution refrigerators, which cool quantum chips to extremely low temperatures, plus low-temperature electronics 2.
- SpinQ says it was the first Chinese enterprise to export a complete superconducting quantum system and chip to international markets 3.
