Chinese hackers reportedly infiltrated Verizon’s phone systems, targeting individuals linked to United States presidential campaigns.

According to a source, the hackers sought information on Democratic candidate Kamala Harris’s affiliates.

There were also alleged attempts targeting devices connected to Republican candidate Donald Trump and his running mate, JD Vance.

The New York Times reported ongoing investigations into whether communications linked to Trump and Vance were intercepted.

However, this has not been independently verified by Reuters.

Trump’s campaign communications director, Steven Cheung, commented on Vice President Harris’s role indirectly influencing US infrastructure’s vulnerability.

A joint statement from the FBI and the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency mentioned a probe into unauthorized access to commercial telecom networks.

While they tied this to actors associated with China, they did not specify targets.

Verizon confirmed the hacking attempt, stating they are working with law enforcement to address the issue.
