Chinese embodied AI startup TARS raises $120m in angel funding
TARS, a Chinese artificial intelligence startup, has secured $120 million in an angel funding round to enhance its work in embodied AI. This technology integrates machine intelligence with physical agents-like robots.
The funding round was co-led by Lanchi Ventures and Qiming Venture Partners. It also saw participation from Linear Venture, Hengxu Capital, Aplus Capital, Lenovo Capital and Incubator Group, Xianghe Capital, and Hillhouse.
Founded in February 2025 and based in Shanghai, Tars is run by a team of veterans from Baidu’s Apollo project and Huawei’s autonomous driving arm. The company plans to use the funds for research and development. This includes training its AI models and expanding applications of its technology.
