Chinese design software firm Manycore bags $156m in HK debut
Manycore Tech, a Hangzhou-based maker of interior design software, raised US$156 million in a Hong Kong debut as it tries to shift from China’s cooling property market toward AI and robotics services built on its 3D design data.
The company still gets most of its sales from Kujiale, its home renovation tool, but it is pushing to sell AI services and data to robot makers and developers.
Revenue rose 8.6% year-on-year to 820 million yuan (US$120 million) last year, and gross margin reached 82%, though it remained loss-making.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
Manycore’s IPO lands in a careful market amid a tough shift
- Manycore’s Hong Kong initial public offering (IPO) suggests investors are wary of firms trying to rely less on China’s property market.
- That hesitation ties to Manycore’s dependence on China’s real estate sector. Available sources do not back the statement that “new home sales fall over 30%.”
- Its push into AI remains early, as the company works to add revenue beyond its interior design software business.
Niche vertical data could shape the next wave of AI
- Manycore’s approach fits a wider pattern where companies earn money from proprietary, structured data that began as a tool for another job.
- Its 3D design data may serve as useful training material for AI and robotics. Available sources do not support the claim that it trains robots to “navigate complex indoor environments” or that generalist AI models struggle with that task.
- A shift from software-as-a-service to data and AI could offer a route for industry software firms in architecture or industrial design. They could supply specialized AI inputs without going head-to-head with large language model developers.
