Four Chinese cybercriminals have been apprehended for deploying ransomware created using ChatGPT, marking the first such instance involving the chatbot in the country.

According to a state-run media outlet, an anonymous firm in Hangzhou reported being targeted and ransomed for 20,000 tethers. Meanwhile, the legality of ChatGPT’s usage remains unclear in China.
