Chinese automotive chipmaker wins US approval for self-driving chip

Black Sesame Technologies’ Huashan A2000 chip has received approval from US authorities, allowing the Chinese automotive chipmaker to produce and sell the chip for autonomous driving globally.

The company, based in Wuhan, said the chip passed reviews by the US Department of Commerce and Department of War after nearly a year of technical clarifications.

The Huashan A2000, built on a 7-nanometer process, was ready for mass production in January 2025.

Black Sesame claimed it is the only Chinese chip company to have passed such US reviews.

Shares of Black Sesame, which is listed in Hong Kong, rose over 8% following the announcement.
