Zhipu, a Beijing-based AI startup also known as Knowledge Atlas Technology JSC Ltd., has announced a new multimodal AI model trained entirely on domestic chips from Huawei.

The company said its GLM-Image model is the first in China to be trained using Huawei’s Ascend AI chips and Kunpeng processors, leveraging the Atlas 800T A2 server and MindSpore framework.

Zhipu said this demonstrates that advanced generative models can be developed using China-made computing infrastructure.
