A report citing multiple independent sources said Beijing-based AI model developer Zhipu reached US$1 billion in annual recurring revenue (ARR) as of July 2026.

Zhipu did not respond to the claim by press time.

The report said Zhipu grew ARR from US$100 million to US$1 billion in five months, compared with 15 months for Anthropic, after shifting more resources to coding models in 2025.

GLM-4.6 was a driver of that push.

The model was integrated into third-party coding tools including Claude Code. Zhipu said it now serves around 100,000 monthly application programming interface (API) users overseas.

Zhipu previously raised US$400 million in 2024 at an approximate US$3 billion valuation, with investors including Alibaba, Tencent, and Meituan.

Competition is also increasing. The report also said Moonshot AI released an open-source model called K3 on July 16, but that claim was not independently verified.
